Business Spanish Badge 2: Corporate Communication in Spanish

To earn this badge, participants will acquire introductory Spanish grammar skills and gain familiarity with terminology and cultural customs related to the business world. Topics include phone calls, meetings, and presentations in Spanish; cultural, educational, and linguistic diversity; and differences in timelines and agendas in the Spanish-speaking world. Modules are organized sequentially, with progressive vocabulary, grammar, and cultural units. Participants interested in beginning with any module other than the first should contact the instructor prior to registering to schedule a skills assessment.

Specific competencies:

• Make a business-related phone call in Spanish, inquiring about goods and services. 

• Write a dialogue for a business meeting, using appropriate formal greetings and business vocabulary. 

• Create a business video presentation in Spanish using YuJa, focusing on marketing and product descriptions. 

• Give spoken driving and walking directions to a job applicant searching for an office.
